Blind spot mappingBlindspot mapping is a common technique used by chiropactors specializing in neurology to determine whether there are imbalances in the function of the nervous system.Mapping the size and shape of patients' blind spotsUsing Clinicbuddy's Blindspot test, it is possible to measures the size and shape of the patient's blind spots. This is a useful for determining balance in brain function. This test is commonly used by chiropractors with specialist educations in neurology (Carrick Institute). Research has suggested that adjustments of the upper cervicle spine can bring about positive changes in the sensitivity of photo receptor cells in the eyes. Patients exhibiting a higher degree of assymetry or irregularity of size and shape of blind spots have been shown to exhibit improvement following upper cervicle adjustments. Such changes do not suggest that the structure of the eye itself undergoes changes as a result of the adjustment. Rather, it appears that overall function and balance of the two hemispheres of the brain can be improved following an adjustment. To find the blind spotEveryone has blind spots, this is quite easy to demonstrate. To do so, take a blank piece of paper draw two dots 10 cm apart. After that, cover one eye. While focusing on one of the two points, you will notice that you can see the other point in you visual field. Slowly move the paper closer to you while continuing to focus on the point. Eventually the other point will disappear. This is because the eye does not have receptor cells where the optic nerve enters the eyeball. In normal daily activities, we do not notice our blind spots, because our brain removes them from our conscious perception.
