What is Head Reposition Error?

When patients have disturbances in proprioception, due to chronic pain or injury, it becomes difficult to perceive the position of the head and neck in space. To test this, the patient is blindfolded and then asked to perform a series of movements (maximal flexion, extension and rotation) returning to center after each movement. Without the help of vision, the patient must 'feel' their way back to center, using the proprioceptive information provided by the joints of the neck.
